Model MCM

WHAT IS IT? The Model MCM is a "magnetically-coupled" motion control that indicates when a conveyor belt has slowed or quit moving altogether. The unit can be adjusted as an overspeed, underspeed, or zero speed control. The pulse output of the Model MCM can be wired into a PLC or DCS, or to the optional MSD controller (which has a SP/ST relay and a SP/DT relay to control up to two separate circuits), one for machinery shutdown and one for an alarm.

WHY IS IT NECESSARY? The Model MCM can shut down rotating equipment before damage is encountered. It provides protection for interlocked conveyor belts, especially if one of the belts fails due to overloading or quits due to tearing.

ADVANTAGE:  Simple design and installation. No drilling or tapping of tail pulley shaft required, easily and quickly connected to the end of the tail shaft with the magnetic connector.

Technical Specifications
  • The Mag-Neat-O™ pulse output can be wired directly to a variety of devices.
  • The optional MSD-800 display/relay controller is sold separately.
  • Only the MSD-12S3 (3 wire) sensor (or MCM-3S) works with the MSD-800 series controller.
  • The MSD-800 series controller is a panel mount plastic housing with display.
  • The controller is available in either a 120 VAC, 240 VAC, or 24V AC/DC power input. Specify model number and input voltage upon ordering.
  • The sensor can be used in outdoor environments and is connected to the controller(s) with (Belden 8442 or 8760 or similar).
  • The MCM-2S unit is supplied with 20 feet of electrical cable, while the MCM-3S unit is supplied with 6 feet of electrical cable. Field splice for longer lengths.
  • The maximum separation distance between controller and sensor is 200 feet.
  • The MSD-800 series controller has a dry, unpowered relay rated for 5A @ 120 VAC & 240 VAC.
  • 6 targets are built into the wheel assembly to generate 6 pulses per revolution.
  • Every MCM unit comes standard with a retention strap.
  • The operating temperature range is -13ºF to 140ºF (-25ºC to 60ºC).
  • No drilling or tapping of tail pulley shaft necessary.  Magnetically couples to the tail pulley end shaft.
